Doing Democracy: Connecting Academia and Civil Society Across Borders

Doing Democracy was a two-day ERUA event held on 23–24 April 2026 in Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice. Organised by European University Viadrina and SWPS University, the event created a shared space for academics, students, civil society organizations, NGOs, political actors, and regional stakeholders to discuss democratic resilience, participation, disinformation, human rights, minority protection, and social cohesion. The event also supported new forms of collaboration between academia and civil society, including project partnerships, practice-oriented research, and teaching or student formats.
