Get to know the winners of the award ceremony on 17 July at the UN HLPF!

The International Green Gown Awards are delivered in partnership with Allianz Global Investors and supported by UN Environment Programme. These Awards reward the outstanding sustainability projects and initiatives led by institutions and their individual staff and students, across tertiary education worldwide. 
Following a whirlwind of applications from around the world and the first judging stage, we are glad to announce this year's winners for the 2023 International Green Gown Awards. It is brilliant to be able to platform institutions from across the Higher Education and Further Education sectors, large and small, whose sustainability action is creating a lasting impact and positive change.

From a shortlist of 93 Finalists representing 25 countries, we were pleased to announce 12 Winners and 14 Highly Commended, whose sustainability successes are transforming education around the world. In case you missed it, watch back the ceremony livestream here.

We are pleased to report that the following IAU Members are amongst the Winners and Highly Commended:

  • International Islamic University Malaysia - Category: Benefiting Society (Winner and Highly Commended)
  • University College Cork, Ireland - Category: Sustainability Institution of the Year (Winner) 
     
  • Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, India - Category: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Sustainability (Winner)
