Making Child-Rearing in Society Possible
This research examines how child-rearing can become more socially supported rather than concentrated mainly within the family. The 2021 study uses web-based surveys and interviews with parents, childcare workers, and other adults to understand attitudes toward nurturing, parenting stress, infant appearance, and child development. It focuses on the role of people other than mothers in child-rearing and explores how broader societal involvement can support parental mental health, women’s active participation in society, child-friendly environments, and children’s social development. The project links gender equality to care work, family support, and social participation.
