Community service at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is a core part of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, involving lecturers, students, and administrative staff. It aligns with the university’s vision to become a globally reputable institution that integrates Islamic, Indonesian, scientific, and technological knowledge. Through community service programs, UIN aims to actively contribute solutions based on academic studies of community needs and social issues.
Student Community Service (KKN)
Community service is mandatory for all students through the Student Community Service Program (KKN). KKN integrates academic learning with real-world community engagement and aims to:
-
Develop students’ empathy and social awareness by understanding community potentials and problems.
-
Apply science, technology, and arts collaboratively across disciplines to address issues such as health, environment, and social development.
-
Instill strong personal values, including responsibility, independence, leadership, entrepreneurship, work ethic, and research spirit.
KKN programs are conducted in cooperation with ministries, government agencies, local governments, industries, and other partners. Students receive guidance from lecturers appointed by the Center for Community Service (PPM).
Lecturer Community Service
Lecturers also play a vital role in community service through various initiatives, which are organized into three main service groups, supporting community development and knowledge application.
