Better Together - Sustainability Report 2024

In June 2025, the Western Sydney University released its annual Sustainability Report for 2024. The university draws students from more than 160 different countries and cultures, with a significant urban population of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Almost half of the enrolled students are the first in their family to attend university, and face low socioeconomic circumstances. As such, the report supports the development of a university campus that is reflective of its diverse community and facilitates an inclusive, safe and respectful learning environment. Based on student preferences,  Western Sydney University has prioritized the following three areas:

  1. Climate Action: Set up efforts to support climate action in our region
  2. Indigenous Knowledges: Embrace Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge for pathways to sustainability and caring for country
  3. Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture: Promote agroecological principles for just food systems.
