Capacity-building Resource for SDG implementation in Teaching and Learning
Professionalisation of Academic Teaching to Infuse SDGs in Latin American Universities (Act4SDGs) is a capacity building program coordinated by the Heidelberg University of Education in Germany and partnered by three European institutions and organisation and ten Latin American institutions. The project is co-funded by the European Union. As part of its mission, the Regional Centre of Expertise in Education for Sustainable Development (RCE, Crete) has developed a platform of tools to integrate the SDGs in teaching and learning.
This platform offers educators access to ready-to-use resources including theories, methodologies, and approaches for implementing ESD throughout teaching and learning. These tools are available free of charge and the platform includes select examples of practical application as guidance to support curriculum development.
The SDG tools developed by RCE Crete support problem-based, interdisciplinary learning that connects classroom teaching with real-world sustainability challenges. By fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and student engagement, they strengthen competencies linked to the SDGs, especially goal 4 (Quality Education), while promoting partnerships across Europe and Latin America. Overall, the tools help embed Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) across curricula in a practical and impactful way.
