Desh Bhagat University

Desh Bhagat University (DBU) was established under the Punjab Government’s Desh Bhagat University Act. The university takes its name and inspiration from freedom fighter Sr. Lal Singh Ji, who was honored with the Tamra Patra award by the Government of India in 1972 for his contributions to India's independence. This legacy of social responsibility continues to shape the university’s vision by combining academic advancement with values of equity, inclusion, and sustainable development.

Accredited with an A+ rating by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), DBU offers a wide range of programs across disciplines such as engineering, management, computer science, law, agriculture, performing arts, nursing, ayurveda, education, media and animation, commerce, fashion technology, and more. The university’s curriculum is designed to promote innovation, skill development, and global competitiveness while addressing the needs of society.

Desh Bhagat University is equally committed to creating a sustainable and accessible campus. The university has installed a state-of-the-art solar energy system to promote clean energy use and reduce its environmental footprint. It has integrated water harvesting systems across the campus to ensure responsible management of natural resources. To foster an inclusive environment, DBU has also developed dedicated spaces for differently abled students, removing barriers to learning and participation.

These efforts reflect the university's alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Sustainability is not viewed as a separate function but as a core element that informs DBU’s teaching, infrastructure, operations and community engagement.
