The British University in Egypt (BUE), established in 2005 through a partnership between the Egyptian and UK governments, is a modern, private, not-for-profit institution located in El Sherouk City, Cairo. Designed to offer a British-style education, BUE delivers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across faculties including Engineering, Informatics, Business, Law, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Mass Media and Arts & Design. The university is known for its strong research focus, with specialized centres such as the Centre for Advanced Materials and the Farouk El-Baz Centre for Sustainability.

The British University in Egypt (BUE) places sustainability at the core of its mission through dedicated research, education, and community outreach. Key initiatives include the research centres such as Farouk El-Baz Centre for Sustainability and Future Studies, focusing on sustainable urban development, future studies, and GIS solutions, and the Centre for Renewable Energy, which leads projects on solar, wind, and energy-efficient building systems. BUE is also aligned with the SDGs through a partnership with UNDP and promotes a sustainable campus culture through action-based research and environmental initiatives.
