University Social Responsibility (USR)

The University Social Responsibility Network (USRN) is a global alliance of universities dedicated to advancing social responsibility in higher education. Established in 2015 and coordinated by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the network brings together institutions committed to strengthening the role of universities in addressing global societal challenges.

USRN’s vision is to create a higher education community that actively contributes to a more just, inclusive, and sustainable world. Its mission is to foster collaboration among member universities to integrate social responsibility into teaching, research, and community engagement, while sharing knowledge and good practice across borders.

The network supports joint initiatives, capacity building, and international dialogue focused on issues such as inequality, sustainability, and social inclusion. Through its work, USRN aligns closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), encouraging universities to act as drivers of positive social change and to enhance their impact on society locally and globally.
