Mission
Founded in 1961, The Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) is one of the most important higher education and research associations in the world. The AUF has also been La Francophonie’s operating agency for higher education and research since 1989.
Objectives
AUF strives to strengthen higher education and research systems across the Francophone world by fostering cooperation, innovation, and solidarity among institutions. Its strategy focuses on advancing a “Francophonie scientifique” that integrates education, research, and societal engagement, while supporting digital transformation, employability, international collaboration, pedagogical innovation, and the visibility of research. Overall, the AUF seeks to position universities as key actors in economic, social, and cultural development within a global and interconnected knowledge ecosystem. Additionally, the AUF strives to promote sustainable development by integrating the principles of social responsibility into its activities.
