UNSDSN and JICA Ogata Research Institute Collaboration
In April 2026, the JICA Ogata Research Institute and the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network launched a joint research initiative focused on developing a new global indicator framework for the post-2030 sustainable development agenda. Bringing together experts from academia, international organisations, and national statistical offices, the collaboration aims to assess lessons learned from the current SDG monitoring system and address ongoing challenges related to data collection, reporting, and comparability.
Through research, surveys, webinars, and international dialogue, the initiative seeks to create a more practical, streamlined, and evidence-based framework for measuring sustainable development progress beyond 2030. Running until 2028, the project will contribute recommendations to the United Nations on how to accelerate the progress of the 2030 Agenda. The project strengthens international cooperation, development of national and gloabl data systems, and global governance for sustainable development, and supports the acceleration of SDG17 (Partnerships for the goals).
