University of Queensland offers course on Sustainable Development
The course Critical Development Perspectives is offered by the SDG Academy in partnership with the University of Queensland through the edX online learning platform. The course explores different ideas, debates, and approaches related to global development, helping learners understand the social, economic, political, and environmental issues that affect communities worldwide. It develops critical thinking and analytical skills by examining topics such as food security, governance, gender equality, indigenous peoples’ rights, and sustainable development practices.
The course encourages learners to analyze real-world challenges and identify inclusive and sustainable solutions. It particularly relates to SDG 4 (Quality Education) by promoting accessible learning, SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) through discussions on marginalized communities, and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by examining governance and accountability. By encouraging collaboration, critical reflection, and sustainable development thinking, the course prepares students and professionals to contribute meaningfully toward achieving the goals of Agenda 2030.
