University of Oslo to Launch Centre for Global Sustainability
The University of Oslo will launch a new Centre for Global Sustainability in Spring 2025, following the university board’s decision in September 2024. The Centre will strengthen the university’s already high-level sustainability research across disciplines, with a mission to advance critical interdisciplinary research, education, and communication for a more just and sustainable global future.
The Centre will bring together key academic units, including:
- The Centre for Development and the Environment
- SUSTAINIT – the university’s Sustainable Health Unit
- UiO’s three interdisciplinary platforms: UiO:Energy and Environment, UiO:Life Science, and UiO:Democracy
The new Centre reflects UiO’s long-standing commitment to addressing global challenges through collaboration across the natural sciences, medicine, social sciences, and the humanities.
