Repair Cafes: Promoting Repair and Reuse
During the previous year, University of Regina hosted several Repair Cafes on its campus. A Repair Cafe is an event run by volunteers that invites community members to bring in broken items for repair and to learn how to repair them themselves, sometimes a cafe offers demonstrations on how to fix certain items to empower participants for future repairs. By encouraging repair and reuse, these initiatives promote sustainable habits and reduces waste.
Recently, an online webinar hosted by the Saskatchewan Waste Reduction Council was held, informing participants about the foundations of hosting a Repair Cafe. Watch the workshop recording to learn how to plan and host your own.
