Corvinus Researchers Lead NATUREFIN Sustainable Finance Workshops for Biodiversity in Finland
From 9 to 11 June 2026, researchers from the Sustainable Finance Research group (SFRC) at Corvinus University of Budapest served as Advisory Lead Partner of the Interreg Europe NATUREFIN project, hosted in Heinola, Finland.
SFRC researchers conducted technical workshops on the Sustainable Finance Navigator, a practical framework developed to help local authorities incorporate biodiversity considerations into financial decisions, policy instruments, and project development. The workshops aimed to help partners evaluate their current regional policy instruments, identify areas for improvement, and consider financial and policy actions that could lead to more environmentally friendly regional development.
The partners also participated in group sessions to develop practical solutions to common policy challenges and discuss individual experiences.
The program included study visits showcasing efficient practices in sustainable forestry, biodiversity conservation, and nature-based tourism in the Päijät-Häme region. The visit aimed to show how cooperation between organisations and local communities can strengthen the regional economy while protecting natural resources and ecosystems.
