IFA Workshop on Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Global Sustainability Frameworks

24 June 2026
Online

On 24 June, Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (IFA) hosts an online Knowledge Sharing Workshop “Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Global Sustainability Frameworks", which will bring together researchers, educators, and policy experts to examine how Indigenous knowledge systems and perspectives from the Global South can contribute to global sustainability policies and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). The workshop will explore alternative approaches to addressing global crises and discuss how more inclusive and diverse epistemologies can be integrated into international policy frameworks such as the SDGs and UNESCO’s ESD agenda.

The programme includes keynote contributions, regional perspectives from across Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America, as well as a policy response from UNESCO. The event is organised by the ICRRA Repository Committee, which focuses on rethinking how knowledge is produced, shared, and accessed.
