University of the South Pacific hosted Global Plenary for Youth-led Climate Justice

The University of the South Pacific (USP) hosted the Right Here, Right Now Global Climate Summit, bringing together youth leaders, academics, policymakers and international partners to amplify Pacific voices in global climate discussions. The event highlighted the region's unique experiences of climate change while empowering young people to advocate for climate justice, human rights and locally driven solutions.

The summit demonstrates how higher education can support meaningful youth engagement and international collaboration in addressing global challenges. Its outcomes contribute to several UN Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 13 (Climate Action) by promoting climate advocacy and resilience, SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by strengthening inclusive participation in decision-making, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering collaboration between universities, governments and international organisations to advance sustainable development.
