UCA Naryn Launches Green Campus & City Reforestation
Marking its 25th anniversary, the University of Central Asia (UCA) has launched a tree planting initiative at its Naryn campus, a key part of the University-wide Net Zero Environmental Campaign. This initiative directly supports Kyrgyzstan’s national “Zhashyl Muras” (Green Legacy) program and answers a call from the Municipality of Naryn to enhance the city's green infrastructure.
The campaign officially kicked off on April 21, 2025, with a tree planting ceremony at UCA's Naryn campus. Throughout spring 2025, a total of 2,610 tree saplings, nurtured and delivered from the UCA Naryn campus nursery, will be planted across Naryn city. This reflects UCA's commitment to sustainable local solutions and biodiversity.
UCA is pleased to partner with Mega in this environmental endeavor. Collaborating with the Municipality of Naryn, UCA and Mega will further develop the joint park and children’s playground in Tosh-Bulak, while also expanding tree planting efforts throughout the city.
This initiative at the Naryn campus is a vital step in UCA’s broader goal to plant 7,500 trees across its campuses in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan. By planting both fertile and non-fertile deciduous trees, UCA is actively contributing to carbon sequestration, aligning with the Net Zero Plan of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The "Tree Planting Initiative 2025" will continue until all saplings from the UCA Naryn nursery are planted, mobilizing students, staff, partners, and the wider community in creating a greener Naryn.
