Cihan University-Erbil (CUE) is committed to advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through research, education, campus practices, and community engagement. Key focus areas include:

• Research Excellence: Faculty and students are conducting groundbreaking research that addresses pressing issues such as climate change, poverty, and inequality. Their findings inform policy decisions and drive sustainable solutions.
• Community Partnerships: Collaboration with local communities to implement sustainable projects, provide educational opportunities, and address specific needs. These partnerships strengthen connections to the region and contribute to its development.
• Curriculum Integration: The SDGs are integrated into academic programs, ensuring that graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to address global challenges and create a sustainable future.
• Sustainable Campus: Committment to reducing the institution's environmental footprint by implementing energy-efficient practices, promoting sustainable transportation, and minimizing waste. The campus serves as a model for sustainable living and learning. 

In 2024, the SDG research contribution was mainly distributed among SDG 3, 6, 7, 9, 13 and 17 (see graph for more details).
