Quality and Learning for Sustainability in Higher Education
Published in June 2026 by ENQA and the UNECE Steering Committee on Education for Sustainable Development, this analytical summary explores how quality assurance agencies understand and engage with sustainability and learning for sustainability in higher education. Based on a survey of 29 agencies, the report highlights uneven progress, limited formal mandates, and the need for shared definitions, guidance, professional development, and peer learning. It identifies opportunities for quality assurance agencies to support the mainstreaming of sustainability through reviewer training, institutional evaluation, curriculum reflection, policy dialogue, and future European quality assurance frameworks.
