Making Education Data Count – Policy Brief
Published in June 2026, Making Education Data Count is a policy brief by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network / SDG Academy that examines how education data can better support policy, planning and progress toward quality education. Drawing on a 2025 stocktake of the global education data revolution, the brief argues that education systems must move beyond collecting data for reporting and instead use evidence to improve learning, equity and decision-making. It recommends strengthening data literacy, building robust and inclusive education data systems, improving research-to-policy connections, and aligning global SDG monitoring with national and local priorities.
