IAU Cluster Action - Norway-Pacific Ocean-Climate Scholarship Programme (N-POC)
Two IAU Cluster members have just announced a new partnership for sustainable development : the Norway-Pacific Ocean-Climate Scholarship Programme (N-POC).
On 28 April 2020, University of Bergen (SDG 14 Cluster Lead) and long-term partner the University of the South Pacific (SDG 14 Cluster satellite) launched a new partnership in ocean and climate science: the Norway-Pacific Ocean-Climate Scholarship Programme (N-POC). The programme is funded for 2021-2025 by Norway's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD).
The program comprises 24 fully funded PhD scholarships at the USP, and candidates are recruited from all 12 member countries of the USP, the other Pacific Small Island Developing States (PSIDS) of Papua New Guinea, Federated States of Micronesia and Palau.
In 2021, N-POC became one of the first endorsed UN Ocean Decade Actions.
