Ethiopia’s Top Research Universities Unite – ERUF Officially Established
Ethiopia’s leading research universities have formed the Ethiopian Research Universities Forum (ERUF) - a historic alliance aimed at strengthening research collaboration, innovation, and higher education quality nationwide. Bringing together ten top-tier institutions, including the IAU members Mekelle University (MU), Bahir Dar University (BDU) and Hawassa University (HU), ERUF promotes a shared vision of academic excellence and national development.
The Forum seeks to enhance postgraduate education, interdisciplinary research, international partnerships, and policy engagement, aligning with Ethiopia’s Ten-Year Development Plan (2021–2030), the African Union’s Agenda 2063, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. By fostering cooperation over competition, ERUF aims to transform Ethiopia’s higher education landscape into a unified force for sustainable progress, innovation, and societal impact.
