Empowering Women Scientists in Policymaking for Sustainable Development

Organized by UNESCO and the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), this thematic session of the Global Conference on the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development will take place on Friday, 17 July 2026, from 9:30–10:45 a.m. Paris time in a hybrid format, both online via Zoom and in person at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. The session will explore how women scientists can play a stronger role in shaping science-related policies and sustainable development agendas at local, national, and international levels. Bringing together researchers, policymakers, international organizations, and development partners, the discussion will highlight concrete actions to strengthen women’s leadership and influence at the science-policy interface.
