EfD Tanzania hosts Workshop to Support Turning Sustainability Research Into Policy Action
On January 27th 2026, Environment for Development (EfD) Tanzania hosted a workshop at the University of Dar es Salaam, aimed at strengthening the connection between research and policy action. The workshop assembled graduate students, young researchers, policy experts, and development practitioners (such as the United Nations Development Program, UNDP) for dialogue, panel sessions, and group work sessions.
The key focus of the workshop was environmental challenges central to Tanzania, such as management of natural resources, climate change, energy transitions, and sustainable development. By inviting policy and development experts, the young researchers attending the workshop were able to engage directly with and receive guidance from experienced practitioners.
Participants expressed how the workshop enabled them to develop research that directly responds to the priorities of national policy. Significant was also the opportunity for students to collaborate and network with participants from government, development representatives and policy makers, as it facilitated discussions on how to bridge the gap between research and policy action.
