3rd Edition of International Festival of Future Sustainability Week Opens at Future University
The Future University marked a major milestone this week with the launch of the third edition of the International Festival of Future Sustainability Week 2025, held under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi.
Opening amid a strong official and academic presence from across Iraq and beyond, the event showcased the university’s leading role in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through research, curriculum development, and community engagement.
The festival commenced with the First International Conference on Modern Technologies and Sustainable Education, highlighting the use of artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and innovative pedagogies to foster sustainability in higher education.
Scientific exhibitions brought together students, researchers, and faculty to present initiatives supporting SDG progress. These included research outputs, AI applications, and academic projects aligned with the university’s commitment to “Towards a Sustainable University.”
The event also celebrated the 15th anniversary of the founding of Future University College and the first anniversary of its transformation into a full-fledged university. Notably, over 65% of the university’s research now contributes directly to the SDGs, further cementing its leadership in responsible academic development.
With dialogue sessions on global perspectives in sustainable education and the role of universities in advancing SDG 4 (Quality Education), the festival emphasized cross-sectoral and international collaboration.
