About
Tengeru Institute of Community Development (TICD), established in 1963, is a public higher education institution dedicated to empowering communities through inclusive education, applied research, and sustainable social development. Guided by values of participation, equity, and community transformation, the institute offers certificate, diploma, bachelor’s, and master’s programs in areas including community development, gender studies, project planning and management, social work, public administration, and environmental health sciences. TICD’s research strengths focus on rural development, social inclusion, governance, gender empowerment, and participatory development. Its campus in Arusha supports practice-oriented learning and community engagement, strengthened through collaborations with government bodies, NGOs, and development partners across Tanzania and the region.
