About
The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) is Norway’s largest and most internationally oriented university, with its main campus in Trondheim and additional campuses in Gjøvik and Ålesund. It offers a broad range of academic disciplines — from science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to humanities, health sciences, arts, architecture, business, education, and social sciences. With over 43,500 students and nearly 9,000 employees, NTNU fosters research, innovation, and education at a large scale.
Sustainability at NTNU
Sustainability is central to NTNU’s mission expressed as an environmental ambition with 15 targets for 2020, primarily focusing on energy use, transportation, procurement and waste handling. For the first time, NTNU produced for 2014 a separate environmental report (in Norwegian) giving the present status on these targets. The NTNU Sustainability strategic research area brings together interdisciplinary projects (e.g. SusRes@NTNU), cutting-edge research on environmental, social, and economic sustainability, and collaboration between academia, industry, and society.
