ABOUT
The Catholic University of Portugal (UCP), founded in 1967, is a leading private university recognized by the Portuguese state. Over 13,000 students and 1,100 faculty and staff are spread across multiple campuses in Lisbon, Porto, Braga, and Viseu. Sustainability at Catholic University of Portugal
UCP integrates sustainability into its education, operations, and research. Through dedicated courses on the SDGs, UCP equips students with skills to address global challenges. It has introduced “SDG Curricular Units”, courses dedicated to various SDGs to help all students gain awareness and competencies to tackle global challenges. The university has committed to carbon neutrality by 2050 and actively promotes sustainable mobility and waste reduction on campus. UCP is also a key player in international sustainability research projects and has been recognized nationally for its leadership in promoting peace, justice, and strong institutions (SDG 16).
