New Policy Briefs on Air Quality Launched at HLPF 2025

In time for the 2025 UN High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) in New York, the Habitable Air project, led by the University of Bergen, has released three new policy briefs on air pollution and community-level emissions.

Building on fieldwork in South Africa, Germany, and the United States, these briefs reflect insights from the project’s official side event at HLPF 2024 and a follow-up roundtable with key stakeholders. The publications address strategies for monitoring and improving air quality in support of SDGs 1 and 13.

The briefs target three key audiences:

  • National policymakers
  • The scientific community
  • UN agencies, the EU, and the AU

Habitable Air is funded by the Research Council of Norway and coordinated by Professor Kerry Chance at the Department of Social Anthropology. The project is participating in HLPF 2025 under the auspices of the International Science Council.
