NUTRIFEEDS – Sustainable Livestock Feed Research Project

Officially starting in September 2025, NUTRIFEEDS – Nourishing Europe’s Future through Regenerative Livestock Feed is a four-year European research project coordinated by Freie Universität Berlin through Professor Jürgen Zentek at the School of Veterinary Medicine. Funded through the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme, the project brings together a 15-member international consortium to develop sustainable, protein-rich animal feed from local plants and agri-food by-products. By reducing reliance on imported feed, minimizing waste, supporting biodiversity and improving agricultural circularity, NUTRIFEEDS aims to make livestock farming more environmentally responsible and economically viable.
