Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education (NICHE) has introduced a new Green Campus Policy aimed at promoting sustainability, environmental responsibility, and eco-friendly practices across all aspects of campus life. The policy sets out the institution’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, positioning the campus as a model for green practices.
Key Objectives
- Minimise the environmental footprint of campus operations (energy, water, waste)
- Promote awareness and participation among students, faculty and staff in green practices

Main Areas of Action
- Energy management: Efficient use of electricity, adoption of renewable energy where feasible
- Water conservation: Measures to reduce water usage, recycling and reuse of water resources
- Waste management: Segregation, recycling, reduction of single-use items and proper disposal
- Green infrastructure & landscaping: Planting trees, maintaining green spaces, ecological landscaping
- Transport & mobility: Encouraging use of public transport, bicycles, reducing vehicle emissions
- Curriculum & research: Embedding sustainability topics into teaching, encouraging green research projects
- Awareness & behaviour change: Campaigns, workshops and training for the campus community
- Monitoring & evaluation: Regular assessment of performance against targets, reporting and review
Roles & Responsibilities
