RMIT University, officially the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), is a public research university in Melbourne, Australia. Founded in 1887 by Francis Ormond, RMIT began as a night school before merging with the Phillip Institute of Technology to become a public university in 1992. The main campus of RMIT is situated in the city centre of Melbourne but the University also other campuses in Australia, Europe and Asia. RMIT is a global university of technology, design and enterprise. The University is a world leader in Art and Design; Architecture; Education; Engineering; Development; Computer Science and Information Systems; Business and Management; and Communication and Media Studies. In addition, it is also highly active for the SDGs.
