In 2025, the Faculty of Nursing at Universidad Antonio Nariño (UAN), through the Sanitatem Mentis research group, held the 4th South Colombian Mental Health Meeting in Neiva under the theme “Awareness, Innovation and Care: Mental Health in Contemporary Times.” The event brought together around 80 participants, including students, faculty, national speakers, and external attendees.

The meeting aimed to analyze current mental health challenges in a context shaped by technology, globalization, legislative changes, and growing social awareness, while promoting strategies to strengthen individual and collective well-being. Organized by nursing students with faculty support, the event featured 11 national presenters from undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

Discussions emphasized innovative and holistic approaches to mental health, grounded in human rights, and highlighted emerging research and practices to improve mental health care. The initiative reinforced UAN’s commitment to student-led academic spaces, multidisciplinary collaboration, and inclusive dialogue that responds to contemporary community needs.
