Sulitest 2026 Report on Sustainability Trends

On the occasion of the 2026 UN High-Level Political Forum 2026, Sulitest has released its 2026 Global Report on Sustainability Literacy Trends in Higher Education. The report examines how universities around the world are preparing students to address complex sustainability challenges.

Drawing on a large international dataset from the TASKā„¢ (The Assessment of Sustainability Knowledge) sustainability assessment, the report finds that students generally possess a basic understanding of sustainability concepts, but important knowledge gaps remain in areas such as biodiversity, social equity, and systems thinking. The findings also reveal notable differences in performance across countries, disciplines, and stages of study, highlighting the influence of institutional context and curriculum design. Rather than treating sustainability as a stand-alone subject, the report emphasizes the importance of embedding it throughout academic programs. The report concludes that regular assessment of sustainability knowledge can help institutions identify weaknesses, improve teaching practices, and better equip graduates with the competencies needed to contribute to a more sustainable future.
