Open Science for Global Inclusion: Empowering Women Scientist
The UNESCO Webinar on Open Science and Gender Equality in Science, titled βOpen Science for Global Inclusion: Empowering Women Scientists,β will take place online on 28 October 2025. The event explores how open science - guided by transparency, collaboration, and inclusivity - can serve as a catalyst for gender equality in scientific research. Drawing on the 2021 UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science and the 2024 Call to Action on Closing the Gender Gap in Science, the discussion will examine persistent inequalities faced by women scientists, such as unequal access to resources and visibility. Experts will assess how open science practices, like open access publishing and data sharing, can enhance womenβs participation and recognition in global research while identifying strategies for UNESCO and its partners to strengthen both open science and gender equality worldwide.
