DIGI-SUSTEACH Centre of Sustainability and Circular Economy

In April 2025, the Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) launched the DIGI-SUSTEACH Centre of Sustainability and Circular Economy under the EU-funded Knowledge Development for Circular Economy (KODECET) project supported by the Erasmus+ programme. As India’s lead academic partner, BIMTECH established one of four centres across Asia and Europe, aiming to integrate Sustainable and Circular Economy (SACE) principles into higher education. The Centre aligns with India’s National Education Policy (NEP 2020) and global benchmarks such as the UN SDGs, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s CE100 network, and the EU’s GreenComp framework.

Specific objectives are:

  • Promote interdisciplinary learning by embedding circular economy principles into business education
  • Facilitate collaboration between academia, industry, and NGOs for joint research and sustainable solutions
  • Create a platform for students and professionals to engage in real-world projects, case studies, and workshops on circular economy
  • Encourage innovation in sustainable product design, resource optimization, and waste reduction
  • Contribute to thought leadership in sustainability through seminars, publications, and partnerships

The DIGI-SUSTEACH Centre promotes experiential, project-based learning, digital sustainability, and global collaboration with partner universities in Finland - IAU member the University of Jyväskylä - and Austria. It focuses on equipping future managers with practical skills in resource efficiency, waste minimization, and sustainable value creation. Through industry partnerships, advisory boards, and research-driven initiatives, the Centre aims to build capacity for circular economy leadership and contribute meaningfully to a regenerative, sustainable future.
