Campus-wide Planetary Health Diet Commitment
On 9 October 2025, Erasmus University Rotterdam became the first university in the Netherlands to adopt a campus-wide Planetary Health Diet through a covenant signed with all food and beverage entrepreneurs on Campus Woudestein. The initiative aims to transform campus food systems by 2030 through science-based targets, including increasing plant-based food purchases and menu options while reducing food-related CO₂ emissions. Implemented in collaboration with campus caterers, researchers from four faculties, the Erasmus Sustainability Hub, and the Erasmus Food Lab, the programme also serves as a living lab linking research, education, policy, and sustainable campus operations.
