Global University Climate Forum 2020 - apply now!

IAU is partnering with the Global University Climate Forum 2020, organized by Yale Sustainability and partners. Students are invited to apply until 30 September to take part in this unique program and work towards a paper presented at COP26. Senior lecturers and experts on sustainability can also sign up as reviewers and mentors.

The Global University Climate Forum brings student activists together to share ideas, learn, connect, and act on the global imperative of addressing climate change.

Around the world, college and university students have become increasingly concerned and vocal about climate action. This is a powerful and growing movement that has the potential to change the course of history, yet it is unclear that climate demonstrations or divestment protests will have the desired outcome of comprehensive systemic change to avoid climate disaster. Hosted during the week of November 9, 2020, the Forum is a one-year program that is inclusive, inspiring, and impact-oriented.

Selected teams will be invited to participate in a series of workshops during the week of November 9, 2020. After the workshops, students will execute their ideas. Successfully completed projects will be included in a publication to be issued during the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP26) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Glasgow, Scotland.

Important Dates:
• September 30th, 2020 – Deadline for submission of proposals
• November 9th to 13th 2020 – Workshops take place
• December 1st, 2020– Students launch their projects, monthly reporting will be required
• May 15th, 2021 – Final reports due
• November 2021 – Issue final publication
