Announcing the 2020 International Green Gown Awards Winners : IAU members awarded!

The winners of the 2020 International Green Gown Awards were announced on 8th July 2020 in an online bilingual ceremony hosted by Sonya Peres, Climate Commission Officer from EAUC and Carina Mutshele, Youth & Education Officer from United Nations Environment.

The International Green Gown Awards celebrate the exceptional sustainability initiatives being undertaken by universities and colleges across the world. The IGGA are endorsed by United Nations Environment and supported by The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), L’Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), The Higher Education Sustainability Initiative (HESI) and International Association of Universities (IAU).

 

Established as the most prestigious recognition of sustainability best practice within the education sector globally, the International Green Gown Awards provide benchmarks for excellence and are aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

 

IAU members from 3 continents were selected as finalists : Wollongong (Australia), Cyprus (Cyprus), Graz (Austria)

 

- International Islamic University Malaysia won the category "Sustainable Institution of the Year"

 

- University of Graz and University of Wollongong were both highly recommended in the category "Student Engagement"
