IAU took part in the jury of the 2016 edition of the International Green Gown Awards

The International Green Gown Awards recognise exceptional sustainability initiatives being undertaken by universities and colleges. The Awards cover all aspects of educational institutions – from their teaching and research, leadership, buildings and food to how students can benefit the quality of life in the communities around them.

IAU took part in the 2016 jury of the International Green Gown Awards. Winners from each of the Green Gown Award regions (Australasia, UK and Ireland, French speaking Europe and Canada, GUPES) were announced in September-November 2016. All regional winners in three of the categories (continuous improvement: institutional change, student engagement and community) were going head-to-head for the International Green Gown Awards.

The 2016 International Green Gown Award Winners are:

• Continuous Improvement: Institutional Change: UK & Ireland - University of West of England, UK
• Community: GUPES - Asia and Pacific - Fiji National University, Fiji
• Student Engagement: UK & Ireland - University of West of England, UWE and University of Bristol, UK 

The Awards Ceremony took place at Lancaster University UK on March 30th during EAUC’s annual conference.  The ceremony was hosted by Pauline Pingusson, Project Manager at Campus Responsables and delivery partner for Les Trophées des campus responsables, Leanne Denby, President of ACTS and delivery partner for the Green Gown Awards Australasia and Iain Patton, CEO of EAUC and delivery partner for the International Green Gown Awards and UK & Ireland Green Gown Awards.

IAU congratulates all the winners and finalists for their great commitment towards sustainable development.

The International Green Gown Awards are administered by the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC).
