The University of Gothenburg's Climate Fund to Support 15 New Projects

Sustainable food consumption, electrically assisted cargo bicycles and climate-friendly ways to arrange international conferences are some of the topics addressed by the 15 projects that have been granted money from the University of Gothenburg's climate fund.

The purpose of the University’s internal climate fund is to help compensate for the carbon dioxide emissions caused by work-related staff travel. The fund lets staff and students apply for money to pay for projects designed to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases from the University’s operations. The projects must be climate oriented, innovative and feasible.

All 15 granted projects aim to reduce the University's negative impact on the global climate and will be carried out in 2017. The projects are highly diverse in terms of both content and hosts involved, and include for instance: the development of digital, and therefore climate-friendly, international research conferences with a focus on specific research problems, methods and theoretical concepts; new bicycles to be used in Kristineberg’s bicycle pool, electrically assisted cargo bicycles to Academy of Design and Crafts/Valand; and a seminar series on sustainable food consumption for climate and health at the Department of Food and Nutrition, and Sport Science.
