Sustainability Talks at Anant National University
Sustainability Talks is an initiative by the Anant Centre for Sustainability to make a difference in the global discourse on sustainability and climate action. Through partnerships with like-minded organisations, the initiative promotes creative and practical solutions to environmental and social challenges. The Centre has conducted multiple activities to introduce students to sustainable design, including collaborations with the Bengaluru ByDesign festival in 2018 and 2019, which showcased design thinking, innovation, and sustainability through workshops, lectures, and exhibitions on the built environment. It also organises interactive waste management workshops for students and staff to raise awareness of waste challenges.
For example, Brian Parkes, CEO of JamFactory and former Associate Director of the Australian Design Centre, led a workshop on “Designing for Purpose through Craft-Based Production” and a lecture on “Designing Craft, Crafting Design”—illustrating how design and craft can serve as powerful tools for sustainability and social impact.
