Sophia University Program for Sustainable Development

Since 2020, Sophia University has offered their students a program centered on sustainability. 

The objective of the program is to educate students to address global sustainability challenges through interdisciplinary learning. The programme brings together six academic departments including economics, education, sociology, journalism, management, and global studies, allowing students to gain expertise in a specific field while also engaging with sustainability from multiple disciplinary perspectives. Its curriculum combines specialized courses with common core classes focused on “sustainable futures,” encouraging students to develop critical thinking, collaborative problem-solving skills, and the ability to address complex global issues such as inequality, environmental change, and conflict.
