The Living Climate Justice Lab Project (CJLL)
The Living Lab for Climate Justice (Жива лабораторія кліматичної справедливості) is an Erasmus+ KA220 project running from September 2023 to August 2026, which seeks to strengthen the role of higher education institutions in tackling contemporary environmental challenges. Its goals include updating curricula, conducting community outreach, creating a digital platform for scientific exchange, and developing educational materials for eco-activists and students. Project partners span universities in Italy, Spain, Greece, and activist/legal organizations, with the University of Palermo acting as coordinator. Mariupol University is a key partner, contributing to awareness, justice, and sustainability in the region.
The main objectives of the project are:
-
Strengthen the role of universities in addressing climate change through collaboration with professionals, communities, and associations.
-
Raise awareness among students, legal experts, journalists, and activists about climate justice issues such as resource scarcity, migration, and conflict.
-
Create new curricula for legal professionals, students, activists, and journalists, ensuring knowledge and skills are practical and job-market ready.
-
Improve teaching quality and resources by sharing methods and best practices among partner universities.
-
Offer flexible learning opportunities like summer and winter schools at the University of Palermo and partner institutions.
-
Build a digital “living lab” platform to share data, host talks, and provide resources on climate change and public policy.
