Carleton University's Green Workplace Program

Active in 2025, Carleton University’s Green Workplace Program is a self-guided certification initiative that encourages staff and faculty to make everyday workplace practices more sustainable. The program helps departments and offices identify actions in areas such as waste management, food and dining, energy and water conservation, sustainable transportation, responsible purchasing and community engagement. Workplaces can progress through Bronze, Silver, Gold and Green certification levels, depending on the number of actions completed. With more than 50 buildings and over 2,000 full-time faculty and staff, the program supports collective action and helps embed sustainability across Carleton’s daily campus operations.
