23 to Change
23 To Change is an international campaign developed by Join EDuC to promote a better understanding of how sustainability is integrated into higher education programs worldwide. The initiative allows universities and program leaders to complete a brief 15-minute self-assessment based on 23 questions derived from the research and framework behind the EDuC Label, the international accreditation system for sustainability in education.
Through the campaign, participants receive an Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) maturity score, enabling them to gauge their program’s current level of sustainability integration. After completing the survey, participants also receive anonymized benchmarking data to compare their results with global peers and a certificate of participation acknowledging their contribution to advancing knowledge of ESD practices.
According to Johanna Wagner, Join EDuC cofounder, the campaign’s aim is to make ESD evaluation more accessible and to provide independent, data-driven insights that help higher education institutions strengthen the role of sustainability in both curriculum design and the student experience. A detailed 23 To Change Participant Guide is available for universities and stakeholders seeking to engage with the campaign and explore the 23 assessment questions.
