COP 15 - 2020 UN Biodiversity Conference

The COP 15 - 2020 UN Biodiversity Conference taking place in Kunming, China, will now take place from 5-10 October 2021.

This is the second postponement of this international conference due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It was initially to be held in October 2020, then in May 2021.

During this COP, the global framework for post-2020 biodiversity must be decided. Discussions are underway around the development of this strategy. To reverse the loss of biodiversity, the convention secretariat supports the adoption of an integrated approach including the protection of critical habitats, the improvement of water quality, the control of invasive species and the safeguarding of ecological continuities.
