The Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education has been working on 2 key strategies with the Mexican Government to achieve the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda.
The first one was introduced during a high-level virtual event hosted by the President of the Chamber of Deputies and is focused on developing the 2030 Legislative Strategy. A working group has been established by the Government to study and analyze the federal laws related to matters covered by the 17 SDGs, in order to modify these legislations or to establish new ones, as a means to achieve the SDGs by 2030. Professors and researchers from TEC University were part of this initiative with technical assistance and research on each SDG.
The second strategy was presented in November 2020 and is focused on supporting the Mexican Senate’s Assessment Project on SDGs. TEC University was invited by the Senate to participate in a multisectoral assessment to study and identify knowledge, management, and application of the SDGs across the Senate’s commissions.
These 2 strategies will be an important contribution for Mexico’s third Voluntary National Review, which will be presented at the High-Level
Political Forum on Sustainable Development in 2021.
The 2 strategies are listed in the Global SDG Accountability Report thanks to the participation of Karina Ruiz Aguilar, coordinator of the SDG Initiative at TEC University.
