The Civil Engineering Department at the American University of Madaba focuses on four major subject areas; Structural, Environmental, Geotechnical, and Transportation Engineering, and provides a comprehensive understanding of each area by a highly qualified professors who graduated from top universities around the globe. The Department has many up-to-date laboratories that enhance students’ basic engineering knowledge. Students graduating from the five-year program through a well-designed and thorough study plan will attain a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Civil Engineering which is accredited by the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education.
The curricula are designed to create a solid academic knowledge embedded in its graduates, on one hand, and to provoke their innovative scientific sense on the other. The Program prepares its graduates to excel in their professional careers, be involved in helping to solve local and global engineering issues, and work in contemporary research fields.

Mission
The mission of the Civil Engineering Department is to serve the people of Jordan by providing a broad and high-quality education to its students for a successful professional career, to conduct strong basic and applied research for national needs as well as to serve the industry, civil engineering profession and the community at large through innovative solutions, dissemination of knowledge and advancement of civil engineering in major areas of the profession.
Objectives
- Graduates of the Civil Engineering program will:
- Engage in professional careers in a broad range of civil engineering areas in public and private sectors in Jordan; or successfully pursue advanced studies and careers in academia or in other research environments.
- Advance in responsibility and leadership in their careers and engage in continuous professional development to respond to rapidly evolving technological and social challenges.
- Contribute to the welfare of the society and the development of the profession through responsible practice of engineering and involvement in professional organizations.
